Figurative ink drawing on paper by Costa Rican artist Carlos Poveda (b. 1940), signed and dated 1964. Rendered with loose, expressive lines, the work belongs to Poveda’s early figurative period, during which the human form became a central subject of his drawings. Poveda emerged internationally in the 1960s and received an Honorable Mention for Drawing at the 8th São Paulo Biennial in 1965, the same year he was awarded Costa Rica’s Aquileo Echeverría Prize. His work is held in numerous public and private collections throughout the Americas and Europe. Presented under glass with a wide mat and gilt frame.
